What you need for Grilled Romaine BLT Salad:

  • Romaine Lettuce: the best romaine to get here is the one packaged tightly together. Usually you find three of them that come together! You will be cutting each of those in half.
  • Avocado Oil Spray: (I use this one!) I use avocado oil spray for a lot of my cooking as it’s great for high heat! The spray makes it even easier to coat.
  • Sea salt, pepper: don’t be afraid to salt & pepper all the things!
  • Bacon: the key to a BLT and so delicious on this grilled romaine.
  • Tomatoes: these are in season in the summer which makes it an even better salad topping! Chop these up into smaller pieces to add on top of the romaine.
  • Blue Cheese: you can leave off cheese here if you’d like! But I love a good blue cheese crumble on top of this.
  • Ranch Dressing: drizzle in any dressing that you like! I used the Bolthouse creamy ranch dressing.

Why you’ll love this salad:

  • It’s so easy! I don’t think it gets any easier than this!
  • You can switch it up based off your preference! Don’t care for BLT? Try a Caesar salad topping or whatever you have on hand.
  • Make it into a side dish or serve it as your meal! Add more protein by serving grilled chicken or steak on top of the romaine.
  • It has summer all over it! Who doesn’t love grilling all the foods in the summer!?

Want to add protein?

Try adding grilled chicken, steak or salmon with this grilled romaine salad! It would really be great with any protein.

How to make this salad:

  1. Start by washing the romaine lettuce. Chop the head of romaine in half. If buying a package of 3 romaine heads, you will end up with 6 pieces of romaine lettuce heads to grill.
  2. Spray with avocado oil spray, sea salt and pepper.
  3. Turn grill to HIGH.
  4. Place romaine lettuce face down on the grill. Keep an eye on it because it grills quick! Just around 2 minutes and you can flip on the other side. Do this to all heads of romaine.
  5. Prepare BLT ingredients. Cook the bacon accordingly.
  6. Chop up tomatoes.
  7. Drizzle ranch dressing on the grilled romaine and top with crumbled bacon, tomatoes and blue cheese.
  8. Serve alongside your cookout or add protein on top to make it into a meal!
