Honey Orange Salmon

I love finding ways to switch up how I make salmon. This Honey Orange Salmon is a great way to incorporate citrus into a meal, which is so tasty! I love how this salmon is the perfect mix of sweet with a little twist from the orange which really balances out this glaze. If you’re looking for a new weeknight dinner, you’ll love this new, easy meal.

Honey Orange Salmon with Jasmine Rice

What you need for Honey Orange Salmon:

  • 2 pieces Atlantic Salmon portions
  • 2 oranges
  • Garlic cloves, minced
  • Coconut aminos
  • Honey
  • Ginger
  • Salt, pepper
  • Arrowroot Powder
  • Jasmine Rice

How to make:

  1. Place two pieces of salmon on baking sheet. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray with avocado oil spray, sea salt, pepper.
  2. Bake for 20 minutes.
  3. Prepare glaze by combining all ingredients: juiced orange, minced garlic, honey, ginger, salt and pepper.
  4. Mix together arrowroot by combining 1 tbsp arrowroot with 2 tbsp water. Set aside.
  5. Pour glaze into small pot on medium low heat. Add arrowroot and continue to stir **Important to continue to stir as the glaze will stick to the bottom of the pot.
  6. The glaze will begin to thicken as you stir. Remove from heat and pour on top of salmon. Reserve some glaze to use on completed dish with rice.
  7. Enjoy!

  • On top of jasmine rice
  • With stir fry vegetables
  • With roasted vegetables

Why do I need Arrowroot powder?

Arrowroot is used as a thickener and is crucial in creating a thickened glaze for this recipe!

How many servings does this make?

This makes enough for two portion size pieces of salmon! You will have some remaining sauce to top on each piece as well.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 tbsp arrowroot starch + 2 tbsp water
  • 1 package jasmine rice
  • optional: red pepper flakes and fresh herbs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. On baking sheet, place two pieces of salmon. Spray with a little avocado oil, sea salt and pepper.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes.

  5. Pour into a small pot on medium low heat.
  6. Combine arrowroot with 2 tbsp water in small bowl to mix. Add in pot with glaze and stir.
  7. Continue to stir until sauce thickens **It's important to continue to stir so the glaze won't stick to the bottom.
  8. Once it thickens, remove from heat and pour on top of baked salmon. Reserve some glaze for the finished dish on top of rice.
