Shrimp Tacos with Bang Bang Sauce

Taco Tuesday just got better with these Shrimp Tacos with Bang Bang Sauce! I love a good taco dinner for an easy weeknight meal that’s so satisfying. These shrimp tacos have a delicious crisp to them from the air fryer and the bang bang sauce is a must! It’s one of my favorite sauces. Not only is bang bang sauce so easy and made with just three simple ingredients, but it’s perfect to pair with tacos or on top of a bowl.

Save these shrimp tacos to make for your next taco dinner! If you don’t want to do tacos, try adding the crispy shrimp to rice or cauliflower rice. They add a great protein topper to any bowl too!

What you need for Shrimp Tacos:

  • Shrimp
  • Tortillas
  • Slaw mix
  • Egg
  • Panko breadcrumbs
  • All purpose flour
  • Garlic powder
  • Cumin powder
  • Smoked paprika
  • Sea salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Cilantro

What you need for Bang Bang Sauce:

  • Mayo
  • Sweet Chili Sauce
  • Sriracha

How to make Shrimp Tacos with Bang Bang Sauce:

  1. If using frozen shrimp, defrost and pat dry. If not, lay shrimp out and pat dry.
  2. Prepare a bowl with whisked egg, all purpose flour and panko breadcrumbs mixed with the seasonings.
  3. Take a shrimp and dip in the flour and then dip in the egg to completely coat. Lastly, mix with panko.
  4. Do this with all of the shrimp.
  5. Place in the air fryer at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Flipping half way.
  6. Heat up tortillas on the stovetop.
  7. Prepare bang bang sauce by mixing together mayo, sweet chili sauce and sriracha. Set aside.
  8. Assemble tacos with tortilla, slaw mix and crispy shrimp on top. Drizzle with bang bang sauce. Top with fresh cilantro.
  9. Enjoy!

How to store your leftover shrimp tacos:

It’s best to enjoy these tacos right after making them! If you do happen to have leftovers or extra bang bang sauce, I recommend storing them in the fridge in a sealed container. I like using these! I also love these for storing sauces.

If you want to switch these up, try doing this:

  1. Add the crispy shrimp and bang bang sauce to rice and make it into a bowl!
  2. Make a crispy tostada instead of a taco!
  3. Top them with a fresh salsa instead of bang bang sauce.

What kind of tortillas do you use?

I used a white corn tortilla and heated it up on the stove! You can use any tortilla that you like here.

Can I meal prep any of these ingredients?

It’s best to enjoy this meal right after making it! If you do want to meal prep an element, I would recommend making the bang bang sauce and storing it.

Can I use a different flour?

I have only tested this recipe with the all purpose flour and panko breadcrumbs. I recommend just using those for the best result!

Ingredients

  • 12-15 shrimp
  • 4 corn tortillas
  • 1 cup slaw mix
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cilantro
  • for bang bang sauce:
  • 1/3 cup mayo
  • 3 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sriracha

Instructions

  1. If using frozen shrimp, defrost and pat dry. If not, lay shrimp out and pat dry.
  2. Prepare a bowl with whisked egg. Another bowl with all purpose flour and lastly, a bowl with panko breadcrumbs and the seasonings mixed in with it.
  3. Take shrimp and dip in all purpose flour. Then dip in egg mixture and coat completely in panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Repeat for all shrimp.
  5. Place shrimp in the air fryer at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Flipping half way.
  6. Heat up tortillas on the stove top.
  7. Prepare bang bang sauce by mixing together mayo, sweet chili sauce and sriracha. Set aside.
  8. Assemble tacos with tortillas, slaw mix and crispy shrimp. Top with fresh cilantro. Drizzle with bang bang sauce.
  9. Enjoy!

Notes

Bang Bang sauce will make enough for leftovers.
